Skills Development Camp

Players in this camp will have 1 to 3 seasons of organized volleyball game play under their belts—either middle school volleyball or something like AYL (Parker Hawks or DC Dolphins), YMCA youth leagues, or the South Metro developmental league. Typically, these players are between the ages of 8 to 11 years, with some older players (ages 12 to 13) who are fairly new to the game. These players are aware of & can demonstrate the basic skills of volleyball (passing, setting, hitting & serving) but they are continuing to develop the ball control necessary to properly and intentionally execute during game play.
Further, these players have often played under a more ‘generalist’ coach, like a parent or school teacher, & have consequently simply learned the basic ‘gist’ of the game. In this camp, our renown, highly experienced, fine-tuning volleyball coach, Tommy Emmons, will instruct the proper techniques & mechanics of volleyball, introduce & demonstrate repetition drills that reinforce skill mastery, while reiterating the importance of a positive attitude & always remembering to have fun. Sign up for this camp if you would like to improve your passing aim & serving accuracy, while also learning how to rotate properly & orchestrate play around a designated setter.

Players in this camp will have more than 3 seasons organized volleyball game play under their belt—ranging from several years with a youth league like AYL or South Metro to a few years with middle school and/or freshman volleyball teams. Typically, these players are between the ages of 12 & 16 years, with a good solid foundation in competitive play. These players are proficient in the fundamental skills of volleyball (passing, setting, hitting & serving) & are looking to take their game to the next level. They have usually been introduced to basic offensive and defensive strategies & are ready to incorporate those into every game.
Our highly seasoned and renown coach, Tommy Emmons, who has coached club volleyball for many years, will assess where players are in their development, determine key areas to target for improvement & focus on the overall advancement of each player collectively. Sign up for this camp if you can usually pass to the setter, are able to get get more than 75% of your serves inbounds & are looking for ways to enhance proper mechanics, consistent execution & effective use of strategy.
